ABOUT IAN ROBERT HOPE
How it all began
Ian has always been interested in health and healing and for the first 17 years of his career worked as a nurse.
It was a long stretch of duty in Intensive Care that prompted a change in direction. Why do people become so desperately sick that they need invasive, life-saving intervention? What causes illness in the first place? How can we protect our health and our quality of life? After much thought, he decided to train as an acupuncturist to care for people in a gentler, more holistic way.
And today
No matter what state I'm in . . . with Ian's well-balanced blend of professionalism, insight, knowledge and love, and a wonderful dose of humour, I always emerge well on my way, to equilibrium and health.
S. Palmer - Shirehampton, Bristol
Ian has practised acupuncture in Bristol since graduating in 2001. He currently belongs to the multi-disciplinary team at the
Fishponds Practice in Bristol.
Ian's commitment
One of the things that attracted Ian to acupuncture was its ability to promote and sustain health on so many different levels. That continues to inspire him today - when a deeply distressed client begins to put his or her life back together again, or when a couple with fertility problems discover there is a baby on the way.
Ian's approach
Ian's first objective is to understand you as a unique individual with your own complex collection of problems, symptoms and responses. The client-practitioner relationship is an equal partnership based on honesty, openness and trust.
An extra dimension
Ian's nursing background and lecturing experience in Chinese and Western Medicine gives him valuable insight into health problems from both a Western and an Oriental perspective.
I explained my back problem. Ian suggested an MRI scan as a safety measure. No one else had ever suggested this. I discovered I had two slipped discs and bone growth on one of my vertebrae.
